abstract

background: nowadays the eutrophication of water bodies is enhanced due to discharge of effluents and runoffs. therefore, there is a demand for the management of natural and artificial lakes to prevent or postpone this problem. lakes eutrophication is a complex process. therefore computerized models are very important tools to describe this process. although there are several models for this, but these are not suitable for managing and overall assessment of water resources. methods: in this study a processing model was constructed. first the euthrophication system, parameters and characteristics were defined on vensim. then mathematical equations of each process was determined and entered to the system. finally, the calibration and validation of the model was conducted by long lake reservoir data. findings: based on the findings of this model major euthrophication variables include phosphorus, nitrogen, phytoplankton and zooplankton could be stimulated. the findings of calibration and validation of the model is pointed that this model can simulate euthrophication with minimum data.  conclusion: it was indicated by the results that phosphorus is a limitation factor in reservoir. the unique properties of this model are its simplicity and minimum needs data.

A System Dynamics Approach to Healthcare Cost Control

Abstract The purpose of this article is to present a system dynamics (SD) model for studying the ‎interconnections among human being weight, eating habit, exercise, body fat, take-in medication, drugs-uses, and the health problems in general. Due to the fact that all of these factors have direct and indirect impacts on the expenses that insurance company have to pay this author is proposing a ...

a system dynamics model to analyze nitrate and ammonia in reservoirs and lakes

conclusions the results indicated that the model, compared with other models, was user-friendly and the desired results were obtained by a minimal data. materials and methods the current paper developed a process model. first, a sketch of nitrate and ammonia storage, their specifications and parameters were set out and created on a page, and then, mathematical relations of each process were set...

Artificial Neural Network Approaches to the Prediction of Eutrophication and Algal Blooms in Aras Dam, Iran

Abstract Background and purpose: Eutrophication is one of the major environmental problems in waterways causing substantial adverse impact on domestic, livestock and recreational use of water resources. Aras Dam, Iran which provides Arasful city with drinking water, has chronic algal blooms since 1990. Levels of up to 900,000 cells/mL of toxic cyanobacteria (mainly Anabaena and Microcystis) hav...
